NDC Technologies and Spectris plc

NDC is part of Spectris plc, leading supplier of productivity enhancing instrumentation and controls. The company traces its origin back to two companies: Infrared Engineering Ltd (acquired in 1992) and NDC Systems Inc. (acquired in 1997). These companies merged in 1998 to form NDC Infrared Engineering. Both companies had operated as private entities until their acquisition and the roots of both were to be found in the rapid advances in sensor technology in the 1960's and 70's. The IRM Group SA was then acquired in 2011 to spearhead the company's expansion into the metals industry. In 2014, NDC Infrared Engineering merged with Beta LaserMike (also a Spectris company and a leading provider of laser and ultrasonic measurement systems) to form NDC Technologies. The combination strengthened the new company’s position in the marketplace by offering a more comprehensive portfolio of gauging solutions.

Spectris is listed on the London Stock Exchange with a total turnover in 2013 of over $2.0 billion, and owns a number of companies operating in four business sectors: Materials Analysis, Test and Measurement, In-Line Instrumentation (including NDCT) and Industrial Controls.
